This test includes an evaluation of our “hormone triangle” including: sex hormones, thyroid, and adrenal glands. This is a great test for patients looking to do bio-identical hormone replacement therapy, for peri-menopause or symptomatic menopausal patients, to assess hormone function for suspicious symptoms or to establish a healthy baseline prior to the onset of changes. Specifically, it measures estrogen in the forms of estrone, estradiol, estriol, and estrogen metabolites that help give information about bone health, cancer connections, and detoxification/methylation in the liver. It also includes progesterone, testosterone, DHEA, cortisol, cortisone, pregnenolone, adrenal function metabolites, aldosterone, sodium, potassium, urinary T3 and T4 for thyroid function, and 5-alpha-reductase pathway enzymes as indicators for metabolic syndrome, Type 2 diabetes risk and more. This is a 24 hour urinary collection that you do at home and then the samples need to be couriered to the lab.
